Festival Overview
OKC Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the historic Battle of Puebla, where an outnumbered Mexican force achieved victory over one of the strongest militaries of its time, the French army. This triumph not only shaped Mexico’s future but also influenced the course of the U.S. Civil War, as it disrupted France’s plans to aid the Confederacy. Each year, thousands gather in Oklahoma City to honor this legacy through a vibrant, family-friendly festival filled with music, food, tradition, and community spirit. As Puebla’s Sister City, Oklahoma City is proud to host one of the most official and culturally significant Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the nation.
